Q: Will this transmission work with a 1ZZ-FE engine?
A: The C64 has considerably shorter gear ratios than the 1ZZ-FE equipped 5-speed or 6-speed from factory. The C64 ratios also take into account the 2ZZ-GE engine which is equipped with VVT-Li from factory. While the casing will mount to the 1ZZ-FE engine without issue, depending on the vehicle make, a linkage conversion and mounting bracket change may be needed for proper installation and function of the shifter.

I just purchased this transmission and the transaction couldn't have been better. Shipping was fast, everything came as describes in the description and the pricing was great! Thanks guys!
I ordered the transmission about a week or two. I didnt expect a reply back due to it being around 9pm but Surprisingly enough he did. I was in the market for a C60 non lsd transmission and wanted to buy that night. As we talked about a C60 transmission until he recommended the C64 with LSD. The deal was too good to pass up so i jumped on it. I have yet to install the transmission because im waiting for my complete 2zz swap but once it arrives i will update this and let you know the quality, performance, and overall differences between the two transmissions (C56 and c64), and the quality of this transmission... so far im happy i received it As quick as i did. No complaints on my end.
This is a step by step guide on how to swap this transmission to a 2000-2005 toyota celica 6 speed. But first, i want to thank midship garage for having some of the best customer service and answering all of my questions.
So, when i bought this transmission, i was kind of blind to the fact that i would have to swap over shifter shafts from my C60 transmission to this one for it to work on my 2000 Toyota Celica gts ( my own fault for not fully understanding the fitment guide on this page). I just want to reassure anyone that may try to do this that it is not impossible and not too hard to do.
For this swap you will need:
- C60 selector shaft
- C60 shifter linkage
- C60 selector shaft endcap
- C60 selector shaft oil seals( small and big)
- C60 selector shaft rubber boot dust shield
- C60 selector shaft endcap
- Various tools
Step 1: Remove clutch master cylinder.
Step 2: Remove shift linkage bracket and 4 bolts that connects the linkage to the transmission.
Step 3: Remove selector shaft place holder on top ( should be 15/16 socket ).
Step 4: Take out selector shaft assembly.
Step 5: On the opposite side that you took the assembly out, there will be what looks like a 1 inch hole that is plugged. This is where the conversion takes place. You will need to prop up the transmission and secure it properly. Run a vacuum hose or some towels where the assembly came out.
Step 6: Make a small pilot hole in the center of the 1" divot ( this will make it easier to drill)
Step 7: Drill here until the small oil seal fits through ( at this point your C60 selector shaft should fit through as well)
Step 8: Bore out the 1" divot hole on the sides until the big oil seal fits properly( These seals should fit very snug and will have to be pressed in with force))
Step 9: Clean all areas inside and smooth the edges down
Step 10: Tap in small oil seal then big seal until flush.
Step 11: Take C60 shaft and insert
Step 12:
